About Us

Orphan Welfare Trust was formerly known as Bagerkhal Welfare and Education Association (BWEA) UK which was founded by Haji Ukil Ali in order to start the Masjid & Madrasa Project in 2003. At the time, the organisation was very small and was kept running through door to door collections.

In 2008 the organisation became a registered charity in the UK (charity reg no.1124449) and has since been able to gain further exposure. With more and more people seeing the level of poverty and neglect of orphans in Bagerkahl, the charity has been successful in completing the main building work of the Masjid & Madrasa project and moved in to helping the general poor and needy in the area.
